Lyon had to wait before winning in the last quarter of an hour at the expense of Monaco (2-0), Saturday at Parc OL in a match of the 10th day of Ligue 1 thanks to a penalty converted by Karl Toko Ekambi and a goal by Jason Denayer.

But this success, a little trompe l'oeil, which allows Lyon to temporarily move to 5th place leaving the Monegasques to two lengths (7th) while waiting for the matches on Sunday, does not remove the doubts about the effectiveness of Lyon's offensive animation, which for a long time came up against the good defensive organization of the ASM.

Admittedly, coach Peter Bosz had deprived his playmaker Lucas Paqueta at kick-off after he only returned on Friday from Brazil where he was playing international matches.

He was also deprived of attackers Moussa Dembélé and Islam Slimani, injured.

The Dutch technician has resolved to establish the young Rayan Cherki (18) at the forefront.

Before conceding two goals, goalkeeper Alexander Nübel only worked seriously on two attempts by Toko Ekambi in the first period (22nd, 26th) and a safe shot from Cherki (34th).

After half-time, Nübel again interposed in front of Tino Kadewere (70th) after Benoît Badiashile saved his team in front of Houssem Aouar (64th).

The situation finally settled after the entry into play of Paqueta, in the 66th minute, which revitalized the Lyon game which tended to run out of steam.

OL then obtained a penalty for a foul by Axel Disasi on Léo Dubois (75th), transformed by Karl Toko Ekambi who scored his second goal in the league, his fifth in all competitions.

At the very end of the game, Denayer brought the score to 2-0 by taking over a cross delivered from the left wing by Emerson Palmieri while Paqueta was at the origin of the action (90th).

These two goals allowed OL to win only their third home victory for three draws in the league.

An assessment which reflects the difficulties of the Rhone to be effective on their ground.

For its part, Monaco will retain the defeat for a match that it could also have won with more daring and especially if its blocks had been more impactful or better exploited.

Playing quite low in the first period, ASM moved higher after half-time, putting the Lyon midfielder in difficulty, but in the end, German goalkeeper Julian Pollersbeck, who replaced Anthony Lopes, suspended, only had a difficult parade to perform, on an attempt by Gelson Martins (50th).

Martins was threatening in the first period (29th) while a cross shot from Wissam Ben Yedder came close (57th).
