"A criminal case has been initiated and is being investigated on the grounds of a crime under Part 3 of Article 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (sale of goods and products that do not meet the requirements of the safety of life or health of consumers, which inadvertently resulted in the death of two or more persons)," RIA Novostiissociya reports.

The UK noted that as a result of the use of low-quality alcohol, 18 people died.

Earlier, the coordinator of the project "People's Control" in the Sverdlovsk region Dmitry Chukreev announced the death of 16 people from methanol poisoning in Yekaterinburg. 

According to him, an entrepreneur who was selling counterfeit alcohol was detained.
