When Greta Thunberg calls, Sweden's musical elite listens.

On Saturday night, First Aid Kit, Lars Winnerbäck, Cherrie and a number of other artists stood on the stage in Kungsträdgården to draw attention to the climate crisis.

Several researchers, speakers and activists also attended the concert.

Including Greta herself, who in her speech emphasized the seriousness of the moment:

- The climate crisis is not something that will happen in the future.

It is here and now.

For every day we choose to ignore and not act, the crisis will worsen.

"Know exactly what they are sacrificing"

She pointed out that we are in an existential crisis that politicians are well aware of.

- They know exactly what they are sacrificing to continue to increase speed and rush out over the precipice.

Let us be absolutely clear that it is now an active choice they are making.

An active choice to continue to allow the destruction of our life-sustaining systems to take place.

She then condemned the politicians for not acting enough.

- They just talk and fuss to make it appear as if they are doing something, but emissions are still increasing.

Global concert

Saturday's music event Climate live is a global movement sprung from Fridays for future, Greta's now worldwide school strike movement for the climate.

In about 40 different countries around the world, youth-led concerts were held on Saturday.

- We here know very well that the change will not come from politicians.

Change will take place when enough people have had enough.

It is up to us to lead that change.

There is hope in the people, in people who take to the streets together and demand change, said Greta from Kungsträdgården's stage.

Do not miss anything about the climate!
