A school bus was the victim of a fire on Thursday around 6:45 p.m. in Meug-sur-Loire (Loiret).

, 37 children and three adults were on board at the time of the incident.

When the firefighters arrived on site, the flames had been extinguished by the driver, using a fire extinguisher located near the dashboard.

All the passengers, safe and sound, had got out of the vehicle.

Initially, the emergency services thought that the schoolchildren and adults could have been poisoned by the smoke.

But the medical examinations carried out on the spot did not reveal anything serious, confirms to France Bleu Orléans Pauline Martin, mayor of Meung-sur-Loire.

"Some college students were a little inconvenienced or very slightly intoxicated, but thank God, everything is fine," said the elected.

An electrical short circuit

The bus affected by the fire was carrying students from the private college Charles-de-Foucauld who make the trip every day from Meung-sur-Loire to their boarding school in Beaugency.

According to the first elements of the investigations, the fire was caused by an electrical short-circuit.
