A violent fire broke out in a residence in Saint-Jeoire, in Haute-Savoie, this Thursday.

A 40-year-old man died in the fire that hit his apartment, reports

Three other people were injured and evacuated to the Center hospitalier Alpes Léman.

Sixteen occupants of the premises were evacuated by the firefighters on their arrival on site.

In total, around forty firefighters intervened in the incident.

An investigation was opened by the gendarmes of the Bonneville research brigade to determine the origin of the fire, which is currently unknown.

It would have gone off in one of the apartments.

About thirty people relocated

“We have set up shuttles to transport residents to the village hall so that they can take refuge there.

And tonight [Thursday], we're going to relocate them to hotel rooms.

This represents around thirty people, ”the mayor of the town, Antoine Valentin, told our colleagues.

A psychological support unit has also been set up by the municipality.
