Former US President Clinton hospitalized with an infection

Former US President Bill Clinton, 75, was taken to a California hospital due to an infection, his spokesman announced Thursday, stressing that he is "recovering".

"On Tuesday evening, President Clinton was admitted to UCI Medical Center for treatment for an infection unrelated to COVID," Angel Urena said in a statement on Twitter.

He added, "He is recovering, his spirits are good, and he is very grateful to the doctors, nurses and staff who provided him with excellent care."

The spokesman published a statement issued by Clinton's doctors, saying that the latter was taken to the hospital "to be closely monitored" and that he received intravenous antibiotics. They added, "He is still in the hospital for continuous follow-up."

After two days of treatment, they added, "(Clinton) is responding well to antibiotics.

The California medical team is in regular contact with the president's medical team in New York, including his cardiologist.

We hope he returns home soon.”

Clinton was president of the United States from 1993 to 2001.
