A British Conservative MP, David Amess, was stabbed several times on Friday during a parliamentary duty he held at a church in his constituency in Leigh-on-Sea, east London, according to police and local media.

On Twitter, the local police announced the arrest of a man, specifying that they are not looking for "nobody else".

Another British MP, Labor this time, was fatally stabbed in June 2016: Jo Cox was campaigning against Brexit in her constituency of Batley and Spen.

The campaign for the referendum, which was to be held only a few days later, had been suspended by political bets.
