We met the school nurse Kerstin Sandin on Friday morning when she and her colleague Jenny Jonsson prepared today's vaccination.

During the day, they will have time to vaccinate 25 12-year-olds, which means that just over a third of the students at the school have said yes.

Vaccinates under municipal auspices

The reason why they started vaccinating children so quickly in Alvesta municipality is that they have chosen to vaccinate under municipal auspices.

Through the school nurses, it has been quick to get the consent forms from the parents.

Fredik Wärn, head of student health at Alvesta, believes in the hybrid solution chosen by the municipality.

- The municipality will do about half of the vaccination itself and about half will be done by the procured vaccination companies.

This means that we will give about two thousand syringes, he says.

Safer to get vaccinated at school

School nurse Kerstin Sandin sees several advantages in vaccinating at school.

She believes that many students feel safer, and in addition, parents do not have to take time off from work to follow.

But two-thirds of 12-year-olds have not received consent from their parents.

In the clip, Kerstin Sandin talks about questions she has received from worried parents.

Now the vaccination is underway, it will be a while before anyone who wants between 12 and 15 years is vaccinated in the municipality.

- We will start a little wider at the end of October and most will be vaccinated in November, says Fredik Wärn.
