A resident of Condé-Northen (Moselle) has taken on a major challenge: to grow ever larger pumpkins every year.

This time, he discovered a 327 kg squash in his vegetable garden, reports Lorraine Actu this Thursday.

In other words, this amateur gardener's own personal record.

“I prepare the soil in the fall, we enrich it, then we sow the seeds in a greenhouse in the winter.

In April, we replant it in the garden until September to pick it, ”explains Le Lorrain to our colleagues.

The pumpkin grows 15 to 20 kg every day.

A European record at 1.2 tonnes

The father of the family is used to participating in a competition in Luxembourg on the largest cucurbits.

And he didn't always come back empty-handed.

As for the giant vegetables that he manages to grow, he offers them to the Telethon at the end of the year.

But the Mosellan, with its 330 kg, is still far from the 897 kg reached by a pumpkin in the Sarthe.

A market gardener based in Spay broke the record for the largest vegetable in France on October 3, reports

L'Echo Fléchois

.

The man went to the competition for the biggest pumpkin in Europe last weekend in Ludwigsburg, Germany.

It was an Italian who won with a product of 1.2 tons.
