The reason for the safety stop was a strong smell and smoke after a renovation of the roof of the school.

On Tuesday, the chief safety representatives at the Swedish Teachers' Association and the National Union of Teachers made a joint decision to introduce a safety stop and all staff and all students were sent home.

On Wednesday, the unions inspected the premises together with the municipality and the matter was then handed over to the Swedish Work Environment Authority.

- As we see it, you can not renovate at the same time as there are people in the building.

Either the work may be done during leave or you may close the school and conduct the teaching elsewhere, said Petra Fältskog who is chairman of the teachers' union in Tranås.

to SVT.

The Swedish Work Environment Authority gave the green light

The renovation work continues, but a remediation company has been on site at the school and when the Swedish Work Environment Authority inspected the premises on Thursday, the stop was lifted and the premises can once again be used for teaching.

- We do not take over the stop and put a ban on the use of the premises, but we cancel the stop and they can use the premises for teaching, says Magnus Henriksson at the Swedish Work Environment Authority to Tranås newspaper.
