October 14, 2021 In the port of Gioia Tauro everything is ready to face tomorrow with the departure of the obligation of the Green Pass for workers.

The hygiene and safety committee was held today via videoconference, convened by the president of the "Port System of the Southern Tyrrhenian and Ionian Seas", Andrea Agostinelli, in which the representatives of the trade unions took part (CGIL - Cisl - Uil) the MCT terminal operator, the port companies and the Spisal doctor.

During the meeting, the availability of the Terminal operator to take charge of the tampon campaign in favor of those port employees who do not have a green pass was ascertained. The President of the Port Authority for his part gave the logistical availability to support the organization of the test campaign. According to a recent survey carried out by the terminal operator, 12 people are not vaccinated, although it could be a non-definitive number. It is certainly a situation under control that will allow the smooth running of the work.

The request to union representatives is to continue to raise awareness among workers about the opportunity to get vaccinated or, in any case, to respond positively to the tampon campaign.

President Agostinelli declared: "I believe that, in compliance with current health regulations, the productivity of the port of Gioia Tauro, the first

transshipment port

in Italy, must be safeguarded; otherwise, the regional economy and beyond would be heavily affected. . I would find it paradoxical that the port workers of Gioia Tauro, who guaranteed work and commitment during the very hard period of the lock-down, today did not safeguard their own health and that of their fellow workers ".
