The number three of American diplomacy, David Hale, has called for a "transparent and credible" investigation into the August 4 explosion in the port of Beirut, while some FBI investigators are traveling to Lebanon to assist local authorities.
"We need to make sure there is a thorough, transparent and credible investigation," Hale said of the site of the blast, which killed 177 people and injured thousands, following a visit to the devastated city.
Hale said agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation would arrive "over the weekend at the invitation of the Lebanese authorities and help determine" what led to the circumstances of this explosion.
