Ygal Unna, director of the Israeli Cybersecurity Agency, appeared concerned during a virtual summit devoted to international cooperation in the fight against ransomware.
Because precisely, the Hillel Yaffe hospital in Hadera is currently the target of one of these viruses which exploit the flaws of a computer system to block it, and only unlock it in exchange for a ransom.
It is the first time that a public hospital has been the target of such an attack in Israel, where 20% of companies have already been affected by a hack.
In France, the phenomenon is known.
Several CHUs (Rouen, Dax…) have been targeted by ransomware since 2019. In the meantime, the Hadera hospital said in a press release “use alternative systems to treat patients” following the attack.
