On the afternoon of October 14, the space station stage mission command headquarters held a press conference on the Shenzhou 13 manned mission at the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center to inform about the mission.

Lin Xiqiang, spokesperson for China's Manned Space Engineering and deputy director of China's Manned Space Engineering Office, said that the Shenzhou 13 mission will achieve mission objectives in five areas.

Compared with the Shenzhou 12 mission, the Shenzhou 13 mission is different in the following aspects:

  The first is that the manned spacecraft will use autonomous rapid rendezvous and docking to dock the space station radially for the first time;

  The second is that the China Space Station will realize the combined operation of the core cabin, 2 cargo spacecraft, and 1 manned spacecraft by then;

  The third is that the astronauts will stay in orbit for the first time for 6 months, which is also the normal residence period of the astronauts crew during the operation of the space station;

  Fourth, Chinese female astronauts will be stationed on the Chinese space station for the first time. Astronaut Wang Yaping will also become China's first female astronaut to carry out activities outside the capsule. The Shenzhou 13 crew will also include the male and female astronauts who leave the capsule for the first time in China;

  Fifth, on the basis of the Shenzhou 12 mission, we will further carry out more space science experiments and technical experiments, and produce high-level scientific results;

  Sixth, the spacecraft and rockets carrying out the mission are directly transferred from the emergency standby state to the launch state at the launch site.

These differences are also the challenges we will face.
