Anwar Gargash: The UAE's victory in the membership of the Human Rights Council is an international appreciation for its efforts

His Excellency Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to His Highness the President of the State and Chairman of the National Human Rights Committee, said that the UAE's winning of membership in the Human Rights Council for the Asia-Pacific Group for the period 2022-2024, for the third time, expresses the international appreciation for the efforts of the UAE in this file, which is highly appreciated. His Excellency stressed that the UAE's victory in membership of the Council for the third time reflects its positive record in the human rights file, which was not limited to political, economic and social rights, but also to the country's successful experience in the areas of women's empowerment, religious and ethnic tolerance, its judicial system, labor rights, combating human trafficking and other issues.

He pointed out that this membership comes while the UAE launches its national plan for human rights and completes its institutional building, such as the National Human Rights Authority, the National Committee and other federal and local institutions.

Gargash said that the UAE society is based on justice and balance, as it includes more than 200 nationalities, where everyone exercises their rights freely, ensuring a distinguished judicial system, which, according to international indicators, ranks first in the region.

His Excellency pointed out that the UAE's participation in the Human Rights Council will be effective and qualitative, as it will share its successful experience in many files with various countries, whether members of the Council or the rest of the world, with the aim of strengthening the holistic view of the human rights file and not limiting it to specific files.
