A new batch of COVID-19 vaccine aided by China arrives in Iraq

  Xinhua News Agency, Baghdad, October 14 (Reporter Zhang Miao) A new batch of domestically produced COVID-19 vaccines aided by the Chinese government arrived at the Iraqi capital Baghdad International Airport on the 14th. Jian Fangning, Chargé d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy in Iraq, and the Department of Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Iraq Director Riad and others attended the handover ceremony.

  Jian Fangning said that since the outbreak of the new crown epidemic, China and Iran have always looked after each other and overcome the difficulties together.

The arrival of the fourth batch of COVID-19 vaccine aided by the Chinese government to Iran fully reflects the profound friendship between China and Iran and the two peoples, and is another example of China's use of COVID-19 vaccine as a global public health product.

It is believed that the vaccine provided by China will play a positive role in promoting larger-scale vaccination, building an immune barrier, and ultimately defeating the epidemic.

  Riad expressed his gratitude to China for its support and assistance to Iraq since the outbreak.

He said that the arrival of this batch of vaccines will improve Iraq's vaccination level and capacity. China has played an important role in supplying vaccines to countries around the world and promoting the fair distribution of vaccines.

  Recently, the new crown epidemic in Iraq has eased, and vaccination work has progressed significantly.

According to data released by the Ministry of Health of Iraq on the 14th, there were 2,383 new confirmed cases in the country that day, and a total of 2030,498 confirmed cases; 82,348 doses of vaccine were vaccinated that day, and the cumulative number of vaccinations exceeded 5.15 million.
