(Biodiversity Conference) "Kunming Declaration" calls on all parties to take action to build a community of life on earth

  On the afternoon of the 13th, the first phase of the high-level meeting of the 15th Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity concluded in Kunming, Yunnan, and the meeting formally adopted the "Kunming Declaration."

The “Kunming Declaration” issued at the COP15 high-level meeting is mainly to call on all parties to take action to respond to the call to build a community of life on earth, curb the loss of biodiversity, enhance human well-being, and achieve sustainable development.

  Zhao Yingmin said that the "Kunming Declaration" was originally proposed by the Chinese side. In the process of drafting the "Kunming Declaration", China adopted an open, transparent, and tolerant attitude. The contracting parties actively contributed their wisdom and put forward many constructive opinions and suggestions. Making the content of the "Kunming Declaration" more substantial and complete reflects the strong willingness of all countries to take action together to curb and reverse the trend of biodiversity loss.

  Zhao Yingmin pointed out that the "Kunming Declaration" echoed the theme of the conference "Ecological Civilization: Building a Community of Life on Earth", fully demonstrating the concept of all countries in the same boat, united as one, coexistence and common prosperity, especially in the current epidemic situation, the international community is facing many Uncertain factors require the international community to gather confidence, consensus, wisdom and strength to promote the protection of global biodiversity and build a community of life on earth.

  Elizabeth Muremma, Executive Secretary of the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity, said that the “Kunming Declaration” is the main outcome of the first phase of the meeting. Issuing this declaration will help promote the development of biodiversity conservation and promote the realization of human relations. The 2050 vision of the harmonious coexistence of nature.

  It is reported that this declaration will be submitted to the United Nations General Assembly, the 2022 High-level Political Forum on Sustainable Development and the second phase of the Fifth United Nations Environment Assembly.
