October 13, 2021 The Carabinieri in Vulcano intervened in the Porto Levante district at some houses, where residents had reported the presence of fumes coming from the subsoil which, in one circumstance, had even caused illness to some pets.
The military as a precaution removed people from their homes and requested the immediate intervention of personnel from the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology who, at the outcome of the inspection, confirmed that a degassing phenomenon with a percentage of carbon dioxide (CO2 ) above normal values.
All of them found accommodation, some in an accommodation facility, others in the homes of family members residing on the island.
