Abu Dhabi Municipality prepares for rain with machinery and equipment

The Abu Dhabi City Municipality, which is affiliated with the Department of Municipalities and Transport, has completed its preparations to receive the rainy season, by raising the efficiency of the rainwater drainage network on Abu Dhabi Island and the mainland, and developing an integrated plan to drain and absorb the surplus water resulting from rainwater, as well as providing a fleet of machines and equipment to deal with various cases in a manner Which ensures business continuity, protects community members from any effects resulting from weather fluctuations, and protects public facilities.


The municipality cooperated with a number of strategic partners in implementing the project, including the National Emergency Crisis and Disaster Management Authority, Abu Dhabi Police, Civil Defense, Abu Dhabi Waste Management Center (Tadweer), Abu Dhabi Sewerage Company, and Abu Dhabi Distribution Company.


The Abu Dhabi City Municipality has completed the implementation of various works for the storm water drainage network in the mainland region, including: (Al Bahia, Al Samha, Al Rahba, Shahama, Ajban, and Khalifa City), where the project included the civil, electrical, and mechanical works necessary for storm water drainage services on the mainland. Completion of rainwater drainage networks with the necessary pumping stations.


The municipality confirmed that it is carrying out periodic maintenance operations for networks, estuaries and rainwater drainage stations on Abu Dhabi Island and the mainland, according to the annual maintenance plan established since the beginning of the year.


She pointed to the intensification of these works before the rainy seasons, as the technical teams of the storm water drainage systems maintenance team in the Abu Dhabi City Municipality continuously visit the sites, to ensure that these systems operate with the required efficiency during the rainy seasons, as well as continuously update the response plans and ensure that its readiness.


She explained that she is currently completing the construction of rainwater drainage networks in areas that need to raise the capacity of the network, in line with developments in the surrounding area, pointing out that it follows modern standards in rainwater drainage networks when constructing new cities, and is adopted in the design and implementation of rainwater drainage systems systems On the standards set out in the Abu Dhabi Quality and Conformity Council Design Manual.
