Police officers accidentally discovered a cannabis crop in an apartment in Brest (Finistère) on Saturday.

They had been called to pick up an 8-year-old child from a building in the city.

He had taken refuge in tears with a neighbor and allegedly claimed that his father had died.

When officials arrived at the scene, they did not find a body but drugs, Le Télégramme explains.

During a search, officers got hold of cannabis plants, weed, resin, cocaine and MDMA.

The 31-year-old father then returned to his home, alive and well.

He was accompanied by his roommate.

Judged December 13

In police custody, the thirty-something would have recognized the resale of part of his products, while the roommate would have confessed his participation in the cultivation of cannabis, for his personal consumption.

He was sentenced to a fine of 400 euros.

As for the father, he will be tried on December 13 as part of a procedure for prior recognition of guilt.

He was left free after his hearing by the police.

The drugs seized were destroyed on the instructions of the prosecution.

The child was entrusted to a member of his family, says Ouest-France.
