The UAE participated in the sixth ministerial meeting of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (SICA), which was held in the Kazakh capital of Nur-Sultan, where it stressed the importance of unifying and coordinating efforts to confront terrorism in order to achieve sustainable development in the continent of Asia.
The UAE delegation to the meeting, which concluded on Tuesday, was headed by Ahmed Al Sayegh, Minister of State, who said in the country’s speech to the meeting, “Our region must strive to overcome the growing difficulties and tensions, maintain security and stability, resolve conflicts, and enhance regional cooperation.” world, consolidating peace, combating extremism and terrorism, and promoting tolerance and mutual understanding.
Al Sayegh stressed the importance of Expo 2020 Dubai, which is hosted by the UAE as a platform for connecting minds and gathering to develop innovative solutions to meet international challenges.
Regarding the current situation in Afghanistan, His Excellency stressed the urgent need to enhance security and stability in Afghanistan, in a way that meets the aspirations of the Afghan people, especially women and youth, and to turn the pages of suffering in favor of peace and prosperity.
Al-Sayegh also indicated that this year is an important stage as the countries of the world seek to address the Covid-19 pandemic, secure supply chains for their peoples, and seek to recover from the pandemic in health, economics and security.
He explained in this regard that as part of its tireless and continuous work in support of global efforts to limit the spread of "Covid-19", the UAE has provided medical and food aid to many countries with the aim of supporting their efforts to contain the pandemic.
At the conclusion of his speech, His Excellency Al-Sayegh stressed the importance of intensifying cooperation to spread tolerance and build peaceful coexisting societies by addressing hate speech, and stressed the importance of strengthening multilateral cooperation.
