The Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, held talks with King of Jordan Abdullah II bin Al Hussein, this evening, Tuesday, at the Emiri Diwan in Doha.

The two sides discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, and ways to enhance cooperation between them in all fields, especially in the field of investment and energy, in addition to regional and international developments, foremost of which is the Palestinian issue.

According to a statement issued by the Jordanian Royal Court, during the talks, the two leaders "stressed their pride in the level of relations that unite the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the State of Qatar and their two brotherly peoples", and their keenness to advance them in various political, economic, investment, development and cultural fields, in addition to increasing employment opportunities for Jordanians in Qatar.

The statement added that King Abdullah stressed during the talks the centrality of the Palestinian issue and the importance of working to achieve a just and comprehensive peace on the basis of the two-state solution, which guarantees the establishment of an independent, sovereign and viable Palestinian state on the June 4, 1967 lines, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Jordanian Royal Court confirmed that the two sides signed a mutual visa exemption agreement for holders of diplomatic and special passports, in addition to a memorandum of understanding between the Qatar Investment Authority and the Jordanian Government Investment Management Company, to build a strategic partnership between the two countries and develop cooperation opportunities.

Today, Tuesday, King Abdullah arrived in the Qatari capital, Doha, on an official visit, his first since 2013, and the Emir of Qatar was at the forefront of his future arrivals at Doha International Airport.

The Qatari ambassador to Jordan, Sheikh Saud bin Nasser bin Jassim Al Thani, had stated earlier that several meetings had brought together senior officials in the two countries during the previous months, to discuss many bilateral issues between the two countries, indicating that they would constitute an important link in the course of this meeting. .

Relations between Jordan and Qatar witnessed a great leap, especially after the return of the exchange of ambassadors in mid-2019, and Doha providing aid to the Kingdom worth $500 million.

The Emir of Qatar visited Jordan on February 23 last year, his first visit following the outbreak of the Gulf crisis in 2017, and the return of diplomatic representation between the two countries in 2019.
