October 12, 2021 An earthquake measuring 6.4 was recorded on the island of Crete.

According to what was reported by the US Geological Institute (Usgs), the earthquake occurred in Palekastro, a town on the eastern tip of the island, at a depth of 10 km.



The epicenter of the strong earthquake was "recorded at sea and 405 km southeast of Athens, at 09:24 GMT," the Athens Observatory reported.

According to initial reports from local media, no casualties were reported.

Just two weeks ago there was another strong earthquake, of magnitude 5.8, also in Crete, which caused one death and ten injuries.
