The Federation Council speaker added that the purpose of the law is to draw attention to the inadmissibility of domestic violence and focus on its prevention.
“There is already an understanding in the public mind that such a law is needed and we will actively promote it,” the speaker said.
Earlier, Matvienko invited Russian President Vladimir Putin to attend the Eurasian Women's Forum.
