Almost a year to the day after the assassination of Samuel Paty, the Council of Paris decided to rename a square in the capital named after this decapitated history and geography professor in front of the college where he taught, in Conflans-Sainte- Honorine, in the Yvelines.

A decision adopted unanimously.

The inauguration, which will take place on Saturday, will conclude a day of commemoration during which the family of the victim will be received by Emmanuel Macron.

Located opposite the Sorbonne University - a location approved by those close to him - the square has so far been named after Paul-Painlevé, a mathematician at the start of the 20th century.

"Samuel Paty's family is very grateful for all the support they have received during this year, whether it is through these places renowned in their honor or all the words of support received, from college students or teachers…" , tells
