(Fighting New Coronary Pneumonia) The number of new crown cases in the Indonesian National Games rises to 83

China News Agency, Jakarta, October 11 (Reporter Lin Yongchuan) Indonesian Minister of Health Sadikin reported in Jakarta on the 11th that as of noon on the same day, 83 cases of COVID-19 had been detected in the resident of the 20th Indonesian National Games in Papua Province. There were 18 more cases the day before.

Sadikin said that most of the infected were athletes from the provinces of Jakarta, East Java, Central Java and Bali in judo, roller skating, motocross, archery and cricket.

According to Indonesian media reports that day, Sadikin suspected that the new crown virus was spread in the athletes’ residences, because the athletes’ residences "lived 4 athletes in each room and they all ate together."

Officials of the organizing committee of the event said that all people diagnosed with the new crown have been quarantined, and close contacts have been tracked and tested.

Previously, Suvano, chairman of the Supervision and Steering Committee of the event, said that the organizing committee implemented strict epidemic prevention management for people participating in the games. All participants must complete the new crown vaccination. Residents are not allowed to go out at will or receive outsiders.

This is the first four-year Indonesian National Games held in Papua, the easternmost province of the country, with 37 competitions.

6,442 athletes and more than 3,500 coaches and officials from 34 provinces of the country participated.

The Games opened on the 2nd of this month and will close on the 15th of this month.
