The Stora Boråkra winery outside central Karlskrona has been run by Staffan Ottosson for almost 15 years.

He is one of three commercial wine growers in the area and now the last grapes of the year will be harvested from the vines.

- We were a little worried only when it was a late flowering in May.

It has been a great year, but not entirely without problems with some rot on some grapes.

Otherwise, I have probably never had such a great season as this, both in terms of quality and quantity, he says.

"Started a little hesitantly"

The Swedish Wine Association, which brings together the country's wine growers, testifies to a strong year in several places in Sweden.

The reason is a favorable weather after cold May with long summer heat afterwards.

- It started a bit dubious in May with cold and then many were worried but then came the heat in June and July.

It also came just in time with rain and above all we managed to get heat in the flowering and that is the prerequisite for a good harvest, says Sveneric Svensson, chairman of the Swedish Wine Association, also a winegrower in Väröbacka in Halland.
