"A judicial investigation was opened today on the count of manslaughter by driver under the influence of an alcoholic state and driving at an excessive speed in view of the circumstances," the prosecution said Monday.

An 11-year-old child, the daughter of one of the two victims, was in another room of the house at the time of the accident and was not injured.

She has since been entrusted to her second mother, according to the same source.

According to the gendarmerie, the drama took place at a T-intersection, indicating that the driver could have lost control and made a "straight ahead" before entering the house facing the intersection.

The passenger in the vehicle, a 16-year-old minor, told investigators that they were leaving a bar in the town of La Teste a few kilometers away, shortly before the accident, added the prosecution.
