Yevgeny Kulesh, 37, was killed in an accident during a change of scenery in Nikolaj Rimsky-Korsakov's opera "Sadko".

The BBC website reports it.

Some viewers attempted resuscitation, but were unsuccessful.

On Telegram several people present said they initially thought of a stage trick, but then understood the tragic reality when someone on stage shouted: "call the ambulance, there is blood".

The show was interrupted.

An investigation into the affair was opened and the show was canceled.

It is not the first tragic accident at the world famous theater.
