350 to 400 participants are expected to be present at the Malmö Fair, among them are heads of government from around 50 countries, such as Israeli President Isaac Herzog and EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The aim of the conference is for all countries to present concrete measures for how to curb anti-Semitism and racism.

- These will then be followed up.

The work will begin in 2022 when Sweden takes over the chairmanship of the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance, said Minister of Education Anna Ekström (S) before the conference.

Both online and offline

Prime Minister Stefan Löfven (S), who is hosting the event, has pointed out the importance of Sweden taking responsibility for fighting anti-Semitism and racism, both online and offline.

In Malmö, representatives of, among others, Tiktok, Facebook, Twitter and Google will be present.

"I am concerned about the spread of violent extremist propaganda and racism on digital platforms.

We need to know more and will therefore map various forms of racist expression and the content of the violent extremist messages that are spread in digital media, Löfven says in a statement on Instagram.

Four themes

For Malmö residents, it will be a week of roadblocks and traffic impact.

The police effort during the conference is extensive and large parts of Malmö will be cordoned off.

The forum will address four themes: Holocaust remembrance, Holocaust education, anti-Semitism on social media, and the fight against anti-Semitism and other forms of racism.
