Prime Minister Kishida had a telephone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the evening of the 8th for about 30 minutes for the first time since taking office.

Since taking office on the 4th of this month, Prime Minister Kishida has held a series of telephone summit talks with President Biden of the United States, President Putin of Russia, and Prime Minister Morrison of Australia.



Under these circumstances, Prime Minister Kishida had a telephone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping for about 30 minutes for the first time since he took office from around 4:30 pm on the 8th.



The details of the meeting have not yet been clarified.



Regarding China, Prime Minister Kishida said in his statement of belief on the 8th that building a stable relationship is important for both countries and the international community, arguing what should be insisted and urging responsible action. At the same time, we will continue dialogue and cooperate on common issues.



Following this, Prime Minister Kishida also had a telephone conversation with Indian Prime Minister Modi for nearly 30 minutes.



At the meeting, in addition to Japan and India, the United States and Australia, four countries called quads, seem to have confirmed their policy of working closely toward the realization of a free and open Indo-Pacific.
