From 11 October, children aged 12-15 can start being vaccinated in Sweden and so also in the Kronoberg Region.

- They should receive two doses and they should be 12 years old.

Consent is required from both guardians, with the exception of cases where the other guardian is not available, says Lena Andersson Nazzal, vaccine coordinator Region Kronoberg at a press conference on Friday.

Letters are sent

This involves about 9,600 children aged 12-15 in Kronoberg and the region will send out letters to guardians next week with information.

Initially, the vaccinations will take place at the various vaccination sites where you book an appointment via 1177.

- You book an appointment or come via drop in to the vaccination sites, this age group should have a guardian with them or at least be able to identify themselves, says Lena Andersson Nazzal.

Vaccination in schools

But it will be a while before the vaccination of the children can move into the schools.

 - It is the suppliers who plan together with the municipalities and I know that someone will start next week.

But since we have been told that we will simultaneously vaccinate the elderly with dose three, we are postponing the school vaccination for a few weeks, says Lena Andersson Nazzal.
