“Investigators, in cooperation with operational police officers, identified and detained six persons suspected of committing crimes under investigation, in respect of whom the investigation intends to apply for a preventive measure in the form of detention,” the statement says.
It is noted that among the new defendants are a 50-year-old resident of the village of Dzhasai, from whose house 132 bottles of alcohol-containing liquid were seized, and two residents of Orsk, 35 and 34 years old, relatives of the main defendant.
According to the Investigative Committee, six criminal cases have already been initiated into the incident.
Earlier, investigators have already detained three people suspected of illegal sale of surrogate alcohol, which fatally poisoned people.
In the Orenburg region, 18 people died after consuming surrogate alcohol, another 19 are in medical institutions in the region.
As stated in the regional Ministry of Health, pure methanol was found in their blood, and in some cases its concentration in the body is three to five times higher than the lethal dose.
