A young supervisor hit "with a violent punch"

The prosecutor of Alençon François Coudert provided details on the hostage-taking which lasted four hours in this high security prison. "On the occasion of a movement from the laundry area of ​​the corridor to the detainee's cell, the detainee grabbed a punch, which he had previously carried, and issued an order to the two supervisors who accompanied him to to carry out this movement of not moving "and" of kneeling ", said François Coudert.

A young supervisor, a trainee in office for a month, was hit "with a violent punch in the eye while it was on his knees" and handcuffed behind the back.

The supervisor "was kept at a distance by threatening words and gestures, in particular with the weapon pointed in her direction", according to the same source.

The punch was placed under the supervisor's throat to order other supervisors arriving as reinforcements to move away.

The inmate also used a life jacket and used keys when opening the cell of two other inmates.

"In the state of the investigation, these detainees do not appear to be accomplices, and on the contrary, according to repeated statements by the wardens, helped the victims with appropriate care to get through the ongoing ordeal (... ) ", according to the prosecutor.

At around noon, the detainee released the warden, then shortly before 2 pm, he went to the RAID, "which made it possible to help the warden who was still detained".

Regarding the weapon used, the detainee specified "having made a homemade weapon the day before from a spoon supplied by the administration to each detainee", with a "very sharp" blade of 6.5 cm.

The hostage taker, Sofiane Rasmouk, 33, wanted by this action to obtain a review of his sentence.

He was sentenced in 2017 to life imprisonment for rape and attempted murder.

The detainee already has 24 convictions, including nine for acts of violence, insult or threats against persons holding public authority (PDAP).

Arrived at Condé-sur-Sarthe on September 17, the detainee was the subject of an incident report on September 24 after the discovery of a homemade weapon while walking.
