After their first three-way conversation about forming a government, the SPD, Greens and FDP want to continue their explorations on Monday.

All three parties had agreed "that it will continue on Monday," said SPD General Secretary Lars Klingbeil after several hours of deliberations in Berlin.

He praised the "serious conversation atmosphere".

According to its General Secretary Volker Wissing, after the deliberations on Thursday in a presidium meeting, the FDP decided to enter into a “formal, in-depth phase” of explorations next week.

There is a willingness to be recognized to overcome hurdles together.

At the same time, he emphasized that the three parties pursued different political approaches.

"There are issues where it won't be easy."

The Greens were also satisfied with the start of the explorations.

"It was a good conversation today, we will continue with it on Monday," said Federal Managing Director Michael Kellner.

"There is a basis of trust there," said Kellner.

That was already shown in the two-way talks between the parties.

Of course, there is still a piece of common ground to go.

"But solutions can be found."

According to Klingbeil, after the deliberations on Monday, the probing will continue on Tuesday until noon.

After that there will be an interruption, as Vice Chancellor and SPD Chancellor candidate Olaf Scholz travels to the United States in his government role.

The next exploratory discussion should then continue on Friday.
