A submarine cable several thousand meters long is being laid in the Furusundsleden between the mainland and Ljusterö to strengthen the electricity grid for just over 7,000 households on, among other places, Ljusterö and the surrounding area. - It's a big job. Two cables are laid at the bottom of the trail and the work must be synchronized with other ship activities in the strait, says Lena Berglund Regional Manager E.ON.
The work requires a special vessel that can handle the weight of a four km line.
Only one meter of cable weighs about 10 kilos, so around 80 tonnes of cable will be laid.
The project, which costs 20 million, will be completed in November.
