The World Health Organization warned, on Tuesday, that the world has not passed the danger stage in addressing the Corona virus pandemic, stressing that the epidemic has not yet been controlled.

This came according to statements made by WHO's Technical Director of Emergency Programs, Maria Van Kerkhove, Technical Officer in charge of responding to the pandemic, during a conference on social media.

And it reported that 3.1 million new confirmed infections were detected in the world during the past week, with 54,000 additional deaths recorded, knowing that the real numbers could be much higher.

Van Kerkhove added that the situation is still very dynamic, "because we are not in control of the virus, we are not out of danger. We are still very much in the middle of this pandemic. But where exactly ... we are not sure yet, because frankly we are not using what we currently have to It brings us close to the end."

She added, "What is difficult for me to understand is that the intensive care units and hospitals in some cities are full and people are dying, and despite that: people on the streets are acting and it is completely over."

Kerkhove indicated that the recent deaths from the Corona virus are mostly unvaccinated, criticizing what she called "false and misleading information" about the epidemic, and said that it "leads to deaths, and there is no room for embellishment."

She indicated that the World Health Organization is holding discussions about what the pandemic situation will be like in the next 3 to 18 months, and warned in this context of a renewed outbreak, stressing that the virus will not be completely eliminated and will remain.

About 236 million people have been infected with the Corona virus around the world, of whom more than 5 million have died, according to the latest approved statistics, since the World Health Organization office in China reported the emergence of the disease at the end of December 2019.
