Sörmland is rich in game and the probability of driving wild here is greater than in other counties.

The number of wildlife accidents has increased sharply in recent years in Sörmland.

But last year there was a dip in the statistics.

Part of the reason why wildlife accidents decreased from 3,783 accidents in 2019 to 3,439 accidents in 2020 is that fewer people drove during the pandemic.

The Swedish Transport Administration has previously reported that traffic decreased, especially in March to May last year.

- Less traffic means fewer wildlife accidents, but we see that traffic has increased again, says Jan Olevall.
