Head of the Political Bureau of the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) Ismail Haniyeh and his accompanying delegation met with the head of the Egyptian Intelligence Service, Major General Abbas Kamel, in Cairo.

The two sides discussed files, the most important of which are the developments of the Palestinian cause and the rearrangement of the Palestinian house, in addition to Jerusalem and the reconstruction of Gaza.

The movement said - in a statement on Tuesday - that Haniyeh and Major General Abbas Kamel discussed the issue of prisoners in occupation prisons, and the importance of the Egyptian role in reaching an exchange agreement, in light of the lack of progress in this file.

The statement stated that Hamas confirmed its keenness and adherence to restoring Palestinian unity and ending the division.

A leading source in Hamas said that the movement's delegation - which arrived in Cairo last Sunday at the invitation of the Egyptian side - includes Saleh al-Arouri, the movement's deputy head, Yahya al-Sinwar, head of Hamas in Gaza, and Khaled Mashaal, head of the Abroad Region, in addition to a number of members of the Political Bureau.

The head of the Egyptian intelligence service, Abbas, visited the entire Gaza Strip for the first time last May, after the recent Israeli war on it. He met with the Hamas leadership and briefed it on his discussions with officials in Israel and the Palestinian Authority in Ramallah.
