Capturing carbon dioxide that has already been released into the atmosphere has long been mentioned as a potentially important part of the fight against climate change.

In several places, the technology is already in use.

The most common is that the carbon dioxide that is captured is stored underground, but in the wake of more and more carbon dioxide being captured, a new industry has taken shape - where the carbon dioxide is instead recycled into new products.

Grows fast

Among the companies that have developed technology for recycling captured carbon dioxide are manufacturers of fuels and certain chemicals that can be used in the production of, for example, cement.

A Canadian company also claims to have taken technology to convert carbon dioxide into a kind of polyester yarn that can be used for clothing manufacturing.

The areas of use are many, and the industry is growing rapidly.

According to the news agency Reuters, the total investments in the industry have tripled since last year.

In New York, there is a company that specializes in the production of diamonds - built entirely of carbon dioxide emissions.
