More than 1 kg of metallic material was found in the stomach of a man who visited the hospital with abdominal pain, surprising the medical staff.

According to the AFP news agency and the British daily Guardian on the 5th (local time), a man living in Lithuania visited a hospital in the Baltic port city of Klaipeda on the 1st, complaining of severe abdominal pain.

X-rays revealed that the man's stomach contained significant amounts of metal, including nails, screws and knives.

The medical staff were able to cleanly remove the metals in the man's stomach after more than three hours of operation.

The man told hospital officials after the operation that he had swallowed metal objects for a month after he stopped drinking.

The metal material found in the man's stomach weighed over 1 kg and varied in size, with the longest object reaching 10 cm.

"The operation lasted three hours, collating the X-rays and removing all the foreign objects, even the smallest, of the patient's stomach," said Sarunas Deidenas, a surgeon at the hospital. "This case is very unusual." said.

The hospital did not disclose the man's identity for privacy reasons, but did provide local media with photos of a surgical tray full of nails and screws.

The man is now in a stable condition after undergoing surgery, the hospital said.
