Lina Bergman is a police officer and works as an examiner of abuse material in the Police Region Bergslagen together with another ten investigators in the group for internet-related sexual abuse of children, ISÖB.
The group was formed in January 2020 and the number of detected cases involving child sexual abuse has increased since the group was formed.
- Yes, in 2019, the police in the Bergslagen region had around 130 cases throughout the year.
We are already up to that level this year and then there is one quarter left, says Lina Bergman.
More cases are detected
One explanation for more cases being discovered may be that the group is actively working to seek out victims, or plaintiffs as they are called in technical language.
But there are more explanations.
