The memoirs of the former Danish Prime Minister revealed that the former French President Destin had sexually harassed her

Former Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt accused the late French President Valery Giscard d'Estaing (Valery Giscard d'Estaing) of sexually harassing her in his memoirs.

According to an AFP report on October 4, Tornin-Schmidt stated in a memoir that Destin harassed her during an embassy event in 2002 or 2003.

According to the summary of Toning Schmidt's memoir published by the Danish media, she saw Destin sitting next to her and "grabbing her thigh" under the table.

"This is crazy. I asked myself what happened. I changed my position and everything was over." Toning-Schmidt said in his memoirs.

According to Tornin-Schmidt's recollection, this happened at a dinner at the French Embassy in Copenhagen in 2002 or 2003.

At that time, Thorning-Schmidt participated in the European Convention Conference hosted by Destin to draft the EU constitution.

Destin was in his 70s at the time, is currently the chairman of the European Council, and is very active in European politics.

Later, Tornin-Schmidt, who served as the prime minister of Denmark from 2011 to 2015 and the first female prime minister of Denmark, was just a political rookie in his 30s.

Tornin-Schmidt emphasized to the Danish media that what she had encountered would now be considered sexual harassment, but that was not the case at the time.

"It was a different era, but I thought it was inappropriate. This situation made me very angry." Toning-Schmidt said.

In December 2020, Destein died of contracting the new crown virus.

During Destin's death, several female reporters accused him of multiple sexual harassment, but they were all rejected by Destin's appointed lawyer.
