Expo 2020 Dubai receives the ISO certification for sustainability in operations management

Expo 2020 Dubai has achieved a new remarkable achievement by joining the most sustainable cycle in the history of the World Expo after receiving an official certificate from the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), a leading independent global assessment body, in recognition of the event’s sustainable management processes.

Obtaining the "ISO 20121:2012 Event Sustainability Management Systems" certification confirms that Expo 2020, which is the first World Expo to be held in the Middle East, Africa and South Asia, has included sustainability - which is one of its three themes - in its various stages.

This certificate is designed specifically for major events and events and aims to improve sustainability opportunities and reduce consequences for the environment and communities.

Whether it is environmentally improving site-level infrastructure or sourcing and using sustainable products, Expo 2020 is pushing the boundaries of sustainability at the local, regional and global level – placing sustainability issues, such as water, energy, waste, environment, materials and carbon, at the heart of its operations and the experiences of its visitors.

Puro Veritas, the world's leading provider of third-party testing, inspection and certification services, has completed the audit - the final critical step towards certification.
