US President Joe Biden took the road to Michigan on Tuesday to praise his gigantic economic and social projects, currently blocked in Congress, and which the White House is struggling to make concrete for the general public.

The Democrat goes to the state of the Great Lakes region, in the north of the country, to visit a trade union training center, and to deliver a speech.

He chose an area where former President Donald Trump narrowly edged him in the last presidential election.

And where the local elected representative in the House of Representatives, Elissa Slotkin, is one of the Democratic parliamentarians not yet completely convinced by the pharaonic presidential plans.

The objective of Joe Biden is, far from the negotiations in Washington very difficult to follow for this American middle class that he wants to seduce, to boast of new roads, cleaner water, childcare assistance or reimbursements. glasses.

The White House, in a memo sent to journalists, provided an avalanche of figures and information, supposed to make all these projects more concrete.

Michigan, for example, has more than 1,200 bridges in poor condition.

Families spend about $ 10,400 a year there on childcare, an amount the administration promises to cut in half at least for low- and middle-income households.

Before departure, the former senator however took the time to discuss, by videoconference, with centrist Democratic representatives not yet convinced by his plans.

He did the same on Monday with the most left-wing elected representatives of the House of Representatives, who on the contrary want to spend massively to correct inequalities and fight against climate change.

Joe Biden wants to invest $ 1.2 trillion in physical infrastructure, the most concrete and consensual part of his program.

But he also intends to develop social benefits.

Announced at 3.500 billion dollars, the bill for this social component is the main issue in discussions between Democrats.
