Nothing was more important to Joe Biden than fighting the pandemic.

Science was once again placed at the center, and far from Trump's boisterous approach, confidence would be built around an intensive vaccination campaign.

The United States was almost the fastest in the world in rolling out vaccinations, and Biden confidently promised that already on National Day, July 4, 70 percent of all adults would be vaccinated with at least one dose.

But it took much longer than that.

During his first term, he, like Donald Trump, has made the pandemic and vaccinations a very politically charged issue, which has increased opposition and thus caused large groups to distance themselves even more from protecting themselves.

Should create security

Throughout the dramatic election campaign, Joe Biden's strategy was clear.

He ran for office not being Donald Trump.

Instead, he would pursue a predictable policy aimed at creating security and safeguarding human rights - not only in the United States but also in the rest of the world and, above all, among the country's allies.

But Biden's slogan "America is back" now echoes more and more like Trump's "America first".

Admittedly, the withdrawal from Afghanistan was made for political reasons, not military strategic ones.

But as the United States hurriedly filled its military vehicles and headed for Kabul Airport, the retreat was reminiscent of Trump and the capriciousness of his leadership.

Admittedly, the withdrawal was well known, but the time came as a cold shower for Afghanistan's weak government, the unjustified military forces, and not least for the United States' allies.

The same was true of the suddenly announced military alliance between Washington, London and Sydney that completely took France to bed and made Europe think about which long-term partner the United States really is.

The countries of the world must take a stand on the new "America first".

Migration policy similar to Trumps

The misery along the northern border with Mexico has affected many presidents.

But Joe Biden promised a new leadership, a humanitarian migration policy with opportunities for illegals to become full citizens.

Trump's closed border and wall construction would be completed.

The result has been chaos, with migrants interpreting the new president's words as being free to move across the border, cross the Rio Grande River and begin a new life in the West.

Trump forced the migrants back to unworthy, huge camps across the border.

The reality of the bid came to be at least as shaky.

We have now seen tens of thousands of Haitians camp under the border bridge in Del Rio, Texas, and photos show police officers attacking migrants with horses.

In addition, Biden's proposal for a change in migration legislation is frozen in Congress.

Biden's mood has changed

To be compared to the politician that Biden called a "clown" during the first presidential debate tells a lot about Joe Biden's vulnerable situation.
