He stressed not to publish private photos and videos on social media applications, so as not to be exposed to hacking, electronic piracy, seizure, and use by weak-minded people to blackmail their owners.


He said that electronic extortion is one of the forms of electronic crime that is based on threatening the victim by publishing pictures or film materials or leaking confidential information, in exchange for payment of money or the exploitation of the victim to carry out illegal acts for the benefit of the extortionists.


He appealed to parents to follow up on their children and make them aware of not accepting friendships from unknown people, and educating them about the dangers of sharing their photos and data through websites, social media applications and electronic games, and guiding them about how to act when they fall into the trap of blackmail.


He explained that extortion crimes are carried out in several ways, the most prominent of which is to lure people by creating fake accounts on social media platforms, the apparent goal of which is acquaintance, and subconsciously, blackmail.


He called on the public to avoid accepting add-ons or friendships via social networks from unknown people, and not to respond and respond to any conversations from unknown sources or share personal information on the Internet, and to refuse requests for video chats with anyone with whom they are not related, and not to be attracted to beautiful pictures. and tempting, ensure the identity of the sender and avoid using real name and personal information when creating email and social media accounts.


He urged community members, in case of exposure to cases of electronic blackmail, to not submit to the blackmailers, respond to their requests or send any money under threat pressure, and report via the e-crime platform, or contact the police on the number 901 or report at any smart police station, which It works around the clock.
