During the pandemic, the Swedish Work Environment Authority banned open front doors on buses around the country.

But now the bans are being lifted - from 29 September, it's okay to open the front doors again and remove roadblocks inside the buses.

But not in Scania.

Here, the front doors open at the earliest at the end of the week.

Because according to previous decisions from the Swedish Work Environment Authority, Skånetrafiken would have closed front doors until 2 November this year.

- We have not received the official announcement that we will be allowed to open on September 29. But we will start as soon as we can, explains Saman Tondnevis, head of bus traffic at Skånetrafiken.

Too early to open

But the Municipal Union would prefer to keep November 2 as a time limit.

- It's too early to open the doors.

We want to await the development of the pandemic.

Many bus drivers are worried because the infection continues, says Rosa Andersson, Municipal Work Environment Manager.

- Although there are also bus drivers who are happy, who have missed meeting people.

Bus driver is a social profession.

Have missed the travelers

This is confirmed by bus driver Hassan El Hssiani.

- I look forward to opening the front door again.

I have missed the contact with the bus passengers, he says.
