As it looks today, SJ runs its night train traffic all the way to Duved all year round.

But other traffic, the so-called intercity trains, only run to Duved during the tourist season in the winter.

But increased tourism all year round and a growing business community means that SJ now chooses to run all its trains from and to Duved all year round.

- We have for a long time seen how there has been a seasonal equalization of tourism in Jämtland County, where visitors are spread more evenly over the year.

The facilities in the county are used better and on top of that we can use the train system better, it is a "win-win situation" for both parties.

That's what Jan Kyrk, business manager at SJ, says.

Stands out during the pandemic

When train travel decreased in many parts of the country during the pandemic, Jämtland County goes a little against that trend.

The reduction here has been significantly smaller, and that night train traffic has actually increased compared to before the pandemic.

- Jämtland clearly stands out positively during the pandemic.

Daytime traffic has decreased less than in many other places, and night train traffic has increased by 40 percent this year compared with the same period in 2019, says Jan Kyrk.

The changes in December also include that the night trains from the county to Gothenburg will have an earlier arrival time, something that has been requested by many travelers according to Jan Kyrk.

- We have worked with this timetable for two years, and gradually managed to cut travel time by about two hours.

The new arrival time now will be 8:15, which we think will be much appreciated by many, says Jan Kyrk.
