Pere Aragonès

has used his intervention in the General Policy Debate that starts this Tuesday in the Parliament to defend the negotiation table with the Government as the "only winning strategy" to complete independence.

"The agreed referendum is the best solution," insisted the President of the Generalitat with the intention of safeguarding the bilateral dialogue with

Pedro Sánchez

de Junts and the CUP, who demand a return to the unilateral path, especially after the arrest

After admitting that "many people, and also in Catalonia" want the table to "derail", Aragonès has once again claimed his ability to "force the Government to negotiate" which, he has acknowledged, "will not be quick."

"There is only one strategy: force a negotiation with the State and add more independence supporters to be unstoppable," the ERC leader abounded and later urged Sánchez to "get wet and present his proposal to resolve the conflict with Catalonia" and warn that the The result of the negotiation "must have the endorsement of all the Catalan people", which would endorse any agreement in a binding vote, according to the intention of the President of the Generalitat.

Aragonès has predicted that the Government will try to "put the process to sleep and play with the division of the independence movement to make the minimum possible concessions" and has claimed to counteract these movements with a separatist "unity of action".

But precisely that unity is what the independence movement lacks at present, as has been evidenced in the hours before the debate.

Proof of this has been the tribute to

Quim Torra

that

Laura Borràs

has designed, taking advantage of the fact that this Tuesday marks a year since the ex-president's disqualification with the obvious objective of compensating the prominence that Aragonès would later capture by opening his first General Policy Debate.

Hours before receiving Torra in the Catalan Chamber, the president of the Parliament has already walked through

Catalunya Ràdio

to accuse ERC from the public station of "doing a disservice" to the independence movement for "collaborating with the State."

Having thrown the dagger, the Junts leader has addressed the Parliament to gloss the figure of Torra and grant him a turn to speak in a ceremony held just one hour before Aragonès opened the debate.

The former

president

has supported

the thesis already pointed out by Borràs when he has urged the independence movement to "not waste time" and use its majority to "propose a plan and a specific horizon to achieve independence" during the debate that starts the course Catalan politician.

This is how Torra has proposed an amendment to the negotiation "without deadlines" signed by Aragonès and Sánchez during the meeting that preceded the meeting of the bilateral negotiating table.

The CUP has also pressured Aragonès beforehand by registering a motion in which it proposes to hold a new referendum on self-determination in the current legislature as a "plan B" at the negotiating table.

"This proposal allows us to generate a political framework of tension with the State, reorganization of the independence movement and independence mobilization," have defended the anti-establishment, who will demand to vote on the resolution this week, at the end of the General Policy Debate.

The radicals, who support the Government in parliament, will thus force ERC to position itself, if the Republicans do not manage to negotiate the proposal first to shape it and make it more acceptable and in line with their interests.
